Onkyo 7.1 Home Theater
System
The Onkyo 7.1 channel home theater systems are
outstanding Home Theater in-a-box systems. Personally
speaking I purchased an Onkyo 7.1 system a while back and could
not be happier with its performance.
Since them, I've gotten some reviews from friends who
purchased a 5.1 model and others who from my recommendation
went with a Onkyo 7.1 model and all have been very
satisfied.
My install was in a family room and is connected to a
Pioneer 53" projection TV. This is an honest surround
sound system right out of the box. The most difficult
part of installation was running the speaker wires to the 4
satellite speakers.
It doesn't matter if you are major league baseball fan, NFL
football or love to watch an old Star Wars DVD, you'll be blown
away with the sound system. From the clear "crack" of a
bat hitting a ball to the grunts from the tackle, you don't
miss a thing. Today there are smaller satellite speakers
from other manufacturers, but for the price and convenience, I
honestly don't think you can beat any of the Onkyo 7.1
systems.
The popular models SKS-HT540, HT-S5100, HT-SP908,HT-SR800
have all received favorable feedback. Today, it seems
that the HT-SP908 is a great choice.
The 908 was Onkyo's first home
theater system capable of passing 1080p video and
studio-master-quality audio, such as DTS-HD Master Audio and
Dolby TrueHD. With HDMI version 1.3a as your link, the HT-SP908
becomes a home theater dynamo with some real versatility. The
7.1-channel A/V receiver and HD conversion DVD/CD/MP3 player
combine to expertly handle DVD, broadcasts, CDs, digital music
and video files from your computer, and satellite radio. You
can also bring your iPod to the party with the included RI
Dock, which neatly integrates the device into your home
entertainment system. With many of the features found in
Onkyo's high-def A/V receiver line-up - Audyssey 2EQ, Faroudja
DCDi, RIHD, HDMI and component video upconversion - the
HT-SP908 looks every bit the total solution to your home
theater system. In fact, it is all you need.
But you can keep costs even lower if
you go with the HT-S5100 system.
The Onkyo HT-S5100 offers
performance, as well as providing practical features.
This system has 7.1 channels with 130x7WPC with a low .9%
THD distortion rating. NOTE: The wattage output is
measured at 1KHz; Actual output across all frequencies
will be lower. For a big punch, the HTS-5100 has a
10-inch 290-watt subwoofer. The HT-S5100 also has HDMI
pass-through switching, Sirius Satellite Radio capability
(with optional tuner/antenna), and iPod connectivity
using the provided Docking Station. Also, this system
includes the Audyssey 2EQ automatic speaker setup system.
If you are looking for a home theater system that offers
a lot of flexibility, and sounds pretty good for a
reasonable price, check out the HT-S5100.
